By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of personal information when you register for an account, subscribe to our Service, or otherwise interact with us:

  • Account information: email address, username, and display name.
  • Payment information: when you subscribe to our Pro plan, payment is processed by our Merchant of Record (currently Lemon Squeezy, Inc.). We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment card details on our servers. We receive only a transaction confirmation, subscription status, and billing country.
  • Communications: any messages, feedback, or support requests you send to us.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain information, including:

  • Usage data: game performance (answers, scores, streaks, time per question), session duration, features used, and in-app interactions.
  • Device information: device type, operating system, browser type and version, screen resolution, and unique device identifiers.
  • Log data: IP address, access times, referring URLs, and pages viewed.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: we use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We may use analytics cookies to understand how users interact with the Service. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.

1.3 Cognitive Performance Data

A core feature of BrainBattle is generating a cognitive performance profile based on your gameplay. This includes metrics such as accuracy rates, response times, category strengths, and comparative rankings. This data is generated from your voluntary use of the Service and is used to provide personalized features, leaderboards, and (if you opt in) a Certified Intelligence Score.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including generating daily challenges, leaderboards, and performance analytics.
  • To process subscriptions and payments through our Merchant of Record.
  • To personalize your experience, including adaptive difficulty and category recommendations.
  • To communicate with you about your account, updates, and promotional offers (with your consent where required by law).
  • To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
  • To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.
  • To conduct aggregated, anonymized analytics to improve the Service and for research purposes.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, including payment processing (Lemon Squeezy, Inc.), cloud hosting (Vercel, Inc.), AI question generation (Anthropic, PBC), and analytics.
  • Leaderboards and social features: Your username, score, rank, and share card data are visible to other users through leaderboards and may be shared publicly if you use the share feature.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With your consent: We may share information with third parties when you have given us explicit consent to do so.

3.1 B2B Hiring Signal (Future Feature)

In the future, we may offer employers access to aggregated cognitive assessment data. If this feature is implemented, participation will be strictly opt-in, and we will obtain your explicit, informed consent before sharing any cognitive performance data with any employer or third party. You will be able to revoke this consent at any time.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes. Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for analytics and research.

5. Data Security

We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL), secure server infrastructure, access controls, and regular security assessments. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
